2019 poll: Buhari defeats Atiku in Lagos State

As the Independent National Electoral Commission collates the results of the 2019 presidential poll, the All Progressive Congress has again defeated the People's Democratic Party in Lagos. The APC's candidate, President Muhammadu Buhari had 580, 825 votes while the PDP's candidate Atiku Abubakar had 448, 015 votes in Lagos State. Valid votes were 1, 089, 567, while 67, 023 votes were rejected. Votes were cancelled in 16 Local Governments affecting 188 polling units.

Lateef who posted a photo from a scene still on set portraying him and Olayode as couples in a series named "Tomorrow is Now" said, "Love is a beautiful thing". Re-posting the photo, Olayode popularly known as "Toyo baby" from Jenifa's diary also replied by saying "Love is in indeed a beautiful thing. No road will be closed for Buhari’s visit – Lagos Govt.

   The Lagos state government has announced that no road in the state will be closed ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit on Saturday.  The state’s Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Ladi Lawanson, made the announcement on Friday. Recall that on Thursday, the state government had announced that movement on 18 roads in the state would be diverted because of the president’s visit. Some of the roads earlier announced to be shut include: Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere Lawanson/Itire /Tejuosho road Apapa/Costain road Abebe village Eric Moore road Eko Bridge/Apongbon Marina road Ikorodu road Mobolaji Bank Anthony way Old Toll Gate/Third Mainland Bridge/Obalende Airport road Oshodi-Oworonshoki expressway Agege Motor road Jibowu area Yaba/Muritala Mohammed way Iddo/Otto Herbert Macaulay way Adekunle and Ijora Olopa. But the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Lawanson, said no disruption of normal activities would take place on any road in the state...

FG to ban importation of Tomato paste

The federal government is set to finally ban the importation of tomato paste before the end of 2019 The minister of agriculture and natural resources, Audu Ogbeh, disclosed this during a tour of the Dangote Tomato Processing Plant in Kadawa, Kano State. According to the report, Mr Ogbeh said the ban will encourage massive tomato production. “The federal government has set aside N250 billion through the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bank Agriculture to disburse as soft loans to tomato farmers as part of the Anchor Borrower scheme. "Federal government will continue to encourage Dangote agro-farms and the farmers to grow massive tomatoes in Nigeria and with this kind of outfit, farmers will earn more with better seedlings from the Dangote greenhouse and get better results,” the minister said. “The farmers will supply to the processor and eventually join tomato breeders in the world. ACPN interested in money not nation building- Ezekwesili

The former presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, ACPN, Dr Oby Ezekwesili has said that the party’s interest was money not national development.  Ezekwesili disclosed this at a World Press Conference when she officially resigned her membership of the party. She said that ACPN’s greedy interest in money rather than votes and nation building made her leave the party. She has also returned the party’s membership card and all other party items in her possession. Recall Ezekwesili few weeks ago, announced her decision to step down from the 2019 presidential race. A decision which shocked many of her followers and supporters. Her party also went on to declare its support for the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari, accusing Ezekwesili of attempting to use the party’s platform to gain ministerial appointment from the winning candidate
